The Wright Way to Build Your Accounting Firm Part Six – Mastermind Group
Glad you’re back! Hard to believe but we’re halfway finished. Your dedication is obvious if you’ve made it this far. I’m happy to know you’re devoted to achieving business success. You are a strong-willed individual. That’s one of the traits of someone who is about to achieve business success.
Watch our video below or read the article underneath to understand more!
Let’s return to my business journey. My Applied Faith wasn’t about me and my abilities to reach Cleveland. I needed to borrow the expertise of others. The ground and flight crew of the airline personnel, the taxi driver, my travel agent, and so many more. I had to trust in their training and professionalism.
You can also use this in building your Mastermind Group. I’m a specialist and so is my accounting firm. I needed to duplicate myself and my efforts. I had to identify those tasks I would perform and which ones other experts could do.
I would not have reached Cleveland without the help of the cab driver, pilot, and other crew members. I have put my trust in them. But it was not that easy. Before hiring them, I verified first that they are a perfect fit for my business trip.
I didn’t look up a bunch of reviews and ask for referrals for my trip to the airport. I figured if the driver was a local, they could get me to the only airport in the city. I place a certain amount of trust in the operating airline. I trusted that they trained their personnel. I kept them up to date with all the requirements needed to operate flights. But with my Mastermind Group, I wasn’t so cavalier.
I made a list of attributes I needed. Personality types, work ethic, professional experience, background, and a few other things. I then asked those within my circle of influence for referrals. I also asked current employees.
I conducted many interviews and when I made a hiring decision, I implemented training. They were already experts, but they didn’t know how my firm did business. They didn’t know our process. That’s why training is so crucial. Not for the job itself, but rather, the way our firm does things.
This is also how you achieve business success. I stated in Part 5 that I don’t have all the specialized knowledge for my firm. I leveraged the mastery of others. I hired a junior auditor and other staff that would help me achieve my goals.
I didn’t hire them to do all the thinking for me. I recruited them to build a community of supportive colleagues with the same goal in mind. This is the success of my company. This alliance is the Mastermind group.
We have unique abilities and experiences, but that doesn’t mean we can’t collaborate. Henry Ford said, “If everyone is moving forward together, then success takes care of itself.” When we combine all our knowledge, we will have greater intelligence. If you’ve gathered a group of brilliant brains, you should all cooperate. It is one of the most important factors in achieving success.
Creating my Mastermind Group has served as one of my driving forces to success. I considered them as my board of advisors. They assisted me in focusing on the bigger picture of my business. They are effective for everything, from emotional to financial support. We solve problems together and push each other to achieve business success. We provide feedback to everyone. We also have brainstorming sessions to explore each angle of our business strategies. We do this to meet my business goals.
Do you understand now how vital a Mastermind Group is? I didn’t have all the specialized knowledge for my firm. But now I’m starting to learn everything that I lack for my success. Thanks to the collective intelligence of my Mastermind Group. We support and learn from one another.
The most important thing in building your group of wisdom is that they should all share a common purpose. And that should be the success of your company. Next chapter: Stop Procrastination. How to lessen or eliminate this mindset.
