Welcome back! Now that you’ve grasped the power of the mastermind, it’s time to focus on your behavior towards your goals.

Benjamin Franklin said, “You may delay, but time will not.”

It was exhausting and overwhelming to plan my business trip. I came to the point of wanting to cancel it.  But I did not! I knew procrastination was not an option. Deadline driven mindset could only lead to particular travel challenges.

Many entrepreneurs procrastinate. They tend to postpone their actions. It is one of the major causes of failure. Let’s look at the most common reasons why people procrastinate.

First is the lack of focus. We’ve all had those days when it’s difficult to concentrate. Then we decided to put our plans on hold. One day turns into two, and before you know it, a week, a month, or longer has passed. This is an enemy of progress. We’ve eliminated this reason by completing our business goals. We’ve got a clear goal, a plan, and a timeline to achieve what we set out to do.

Procrastination also happens because of a lack of motivation and self-confidence. The main reason behind this is that we tend to value other people’s opinions. We instill it in our minds, resulting in negative momentum. However, we’ve already lessened the risk of those negative messages by reinforcing our plans. We have been repeating those a lot of times per day. We have been feeding our minds with what we desire. We’ve been conditioning our minds with positivity. We’ve set aside time to think about our vision and what life will be like when we’ve achieved our goals. So, lack of motivation isn’t something that will slow us down. We’re equipped with some great tools designed to destroy that particular foe.

I went through the same thing when I started my business. Some of my friends were saying things that affected my confidence. I allowed them to do the thinking for me, which had a negative outcome. Don’t get me wrong: friends are a great motivator. The only problem is that they don’t have the same desire and passion that you have.

The weight of their voices lessened as my Mastermind Group’s voices increased. My Mastermind and I were on the same page. We all wanted the same thing. We worked towards the same goal. They are functional for everything from emotional to financial support. You will always hold them accountable for your company’s growth. If you are feeling exhausted, seek immediate help from them. They will be there to push you harder to achieve success. In my case, they helped me stay focused and inspired. It aided me in reaching my objectives.

Finally, there is the fear of failure. This mentality will always lead to delayed decisions and actions. People tend to wait for the perfect moment. We want the stars to align the way we want them to. But in my experience, that’s not how it happens. The perfect time is when I make a decision. Then, following that decision, I will take massive action to achieve my goal.

Procrastination’s impacts may not appear to be that dreadful at first. Over time, you will realize that you missed out on a lot of great opportunities. You also lost precious time and harmed your business reputation. The worst part is that you will never meet your goals. Stop this mindset as soon as possible. I wrote this article to help you identify this habit in time. Correct it now so you can become a better decision-maker.

Napoleon Hill states, “Procrastination, the opposite of a decision. It is a common enemy that everybody must conquer.” If you continue to doubt and procrastinate in your plans, then it will fail. Instead, concentrate on your decisions and commitments. They are critical to your progress and success.

Overcoming procrastination is choosing to make a better decision. Don’t be afraid if something goes wrong. It is inevitable in business. You can always learn from your experiences and adapt to them. Success is not an overnight achievement. You’ll experience a temporary defeat. That’s fine! You can always approach defeat with a positive mentality. Remember the old adage, “Every cloud has a silver lining?” This will be our focus for the next installment: The Power of Persistence.
